U13 Reds 2-1 Tullamore Town((AET)

In all fairness, finals don’t get much better than this, our lads have had a couple of really big games recently and it showed in how composed they were all afternoon.

We started the game really well and probably dominated the game for the first 15 mins but couldn’t make our dominance pay. A real hammer blow came mid way through the first half with the loss of TJ to injury after a tough challenge from the Tullamore centre half. We then conceded the type of goal that we don’t usually concede when we let Tullamore get in behind us and the centre half finished well past Zac. And so the half finished 1-0 to Tullamore.

Well the 2nd half was a different story altogether and our lads absolutely dominated the game. Jakob was dominant at the back and Gav and Bobby were running the show in the middle of the park. But we couldn’t make our dominance pay all the while Tullamore were dangerous on the break. We got our equaliser with about 10 mins to go when a free kick from Rhuon came back off the wall only for Rhuon to whip the ball back into to box for Jamie to finish well past the Tullamore keeper. So into extra time we went.

Again we started extra time the way we finished normal time and dominated proceedings. Our dominance paid off in the 2nd period of extra time when a sustained period of pressure led to a corner and one of our best players all season Gary rose higher than everyone else to give us a lead that we didn’t let go. And we held on to win an unbelievable treble.

Best for us today were Danny, Jakob, Zac and Rhuon. Man of the match today has to be shared by 2 men who worked their socks off and gave every thing for the jersey…..Gavin and Bobby. Special mention to Aaron from our u12’s who came on today and had an unbelievable game…..this is one guy to watch folks!!!!!

So that’s the treble won after a long season, big shout out to Tony O'Sullivan (Sully) who came in this year and worked so well with this group and is responsible for great success in the club.
